Through a press release, the General Directorate of Medicines of the Peruvian Ministry, Digemid, announced that the product known by the name of Vasalgel or its similar Risug, which is a male injectable contraceptive, does not have a Health Registration of Pharmaceutical Product because it is in the experimental phase.

According to the informative content of the advertising campaign that has been deployed in social networks, mainly TikTok, Vasagel can be purchased in the family planning area of any hospital or health center of the Peruvian Ministry of Health (Minsa) nationwide, this has been totally denied by Peruvian health authorities who reaffirmed that the only contraceptive methods available in the country, in the case of women, are intrauterine devices, implants, quarterly injectables, monthly injectables, female condoms and tubal ligation, and for men, male condoms and vasectomy.
