As responsible for preserving the public health of Canadian citizens, the Health Canada authorities have ordered a precautionary recall of the Anesthesia Set Flex Latexfree medical device following an announcement by Draeger.

According to the German company, after a series of internal quality controls, contaminants particulates were discovered in the flexible ventilation hoses as a result of a fault in the manufacturing process. It was also shown that they could be detected visually before use.

If contaminated flexible ventilation hoses are used without a filter, the patient is at risk of being affected by coughing, irritation or toxicological effects caused by particles entering the respiratory tract.
