Peruvian authorities sanction products without health registrations

In view of the imminent danger posed to public health by the increase in the unrestricted sale of medicines of dubious origin, the authorities of MINSA (Ministry of Health) together with the PNP (Peruvian National Police) have decided to carry out operations not only to close down illegal points of sale but also to remove from the market all those products that do not have the respective Health Registration issued by the General Directorate of Medicines, Supplies and Drugs (Digemid) of MINSA.

Almost all of the seized goods are considered "high risk" not only because they are in poor condition but also, they are pharmaceutical products and medical devices, expired, adulterated and counterfeited.

It should be noted that fines for this type of infringement range from 1 to 10 Tax Units (UIT).
